Page from BBC Casualty sketchbook prop

Last summer I got involved with the BBC through a friend, and was paid to furnish a sketchbook with illustrations of angels for the episode titled 'Charlie's Angels'. This episode, shown October 2011, was about a young girl whose doctor father is feeding her anti-hallucinogenics without her knowledge, since after her mother's death she appears to be seeing 'angels'. I was lucky enough to help out on set twice, and get to watch as they filmed the scenes using my sketchbook.

Children's undersea mobile

Finished my niece's mobile- with some very practical suggestions from the other half- and am very pleased with it! Used metal wire covered in nylon, glass beads from Bijoux Beads, felt, wire for the halo holding the creatures and toy stuffing.

Angelic Christmas gifts

A few of my friends received special Christmas angels I knitted, from a brilliant book my lovely partner bought me from Oxfam- this wonderful book by Jean Greenhowe. I am sure my Grandma knitting myself and my sisters some pieces from this:
The first thing I made was a kitten toy- a small blue mouse which went down very well but is no longer in any fit state to photograph. However I did get a snap of the angels before I posted them:

And here they are, on my friends' trees... I was very proud!
I am thinking of organising a group of crafty people like myself to make things for a Christmas shop here in Bath...

Crafty knitted and felt gifts

Working on some projects for presents and craft fairs: Felt, wool and beads mobile for a present for a newborn; still to go, a seahorse, some shells and of course whatever it's going to hang from. I designed this fully myself. The pieces are all reversible, and the starfish is different on each side:
I am also working on tea cosies for craft fayres, and going to start on cafetiere cosies too, maybe even egg cosies! Love this 'Fairisle effect' yarn, very cheerful:

Macro wax photographs

These images were originally an offspring of my MA film Videotron but became artworks in their own right. They are purposefully-taken photos (rather than screenshots) of wax dripped onto circuit boards; you can see the original film below. I wanted to create abstract, painterly images irrespective of the fact they are photographs of sculptures.

All these images were taken with a D-SLR and either a macro or standard 18-55mm lens and basic colour attritubtes only edited in Photoshop. I shot them in a small studio and lit the works myself.

Final MA film Videotron

Videotron is a short film delving into the secrets of our electrical objects. Using time lapse and stop-motion techniques, the film asks us to consider our trusted inanimate things becoming conscious and procreative, propelling us into a landscape of resistors, LEDs and potentiometers until our sense of scale is disabled.
