Been a fan of Barbieri's tilt shift photography and films since I saw Site Specific_Roma at the Hayward Gallery a good few years ago; it's a film from the air of Rome, using the tilt shift camera which, due to two tilted panes of glass inside, blur some parts of the image and keep others sharp. This creates an image that resembles photography of models, with an appearance that closely resembles a shallow depth of field (see above, from film Site Specific_Las Vegas). Anyway I just came across a photo on Artnet he took of the town in which I lived whilst doing my BA, and of a subject I really like- the docks! I have a real thing for boat cranes...
Compare to photos of a power station at dusk I took near Cape Town... I had to take them from a moving car which wasn't ideal, but I just about captured what I was after.
